Welcome To The Fall Season

“Fall Season”
The following photo was taken near Harrison Mills, B.C., Canada.
This is the time of year most photographers and nature aficionados can’t help but enjoy the eye candy of autumn colours surrounding us. These beautiful colours and cool crisp mornings coalesce to form my favourite time of year, autumn, next would be winter.....no I’m not a summer lover. I decided once again to travel to the West Harrison Lake side and see what the deciduous forest would bring me. Up early and dragging my sloth like body out of bed I managed to drive my way to Harrison Lake. As the golden hour approached I was surrounded by many of the yellow, orange and red coloured leaves while driving the back roads. Of course everything looks beautiful this time of year so how do you come up with a unique attractive photo that stands out, now that’s the challenge.
I spent the better part of the day looking for an autumn photo but I found nothing that really satisfied me. I decided to turn around from the far end of Harrison Lake feeling a little defeated and head back. As I approached the beginning of Harrison Lake I travelled across a small bridge while looking up the creek. The sun lit up the creek nicely and the leaves and moss were radiant with colour. I quickly parked and scurried as quickly as I could with a 60 pound photo backpack up along the shoreline of the creek. I spotted a log crossing and I was destined for it. While throwing caution to the wind I walked through knee deep water and quickly determined my composition while hand holding my camera. I noted my camera position and quickly set up my tripod in the creek. I carefully took a few photos and hoped the sunlight wouldn’t disappear changing the view to an unattractive dull scene. Everything worked out okay and I’m quite pleased with my “Fall Season” photo........ BUT one thing that kind of bugs me is the maple leaf at the bottom of the photo looks purposely placed however this was the natural position of the leaf.
I hope you like the photo.
