   “Monsters Among Us”

The following photos were taken in the Chilliwack River Valley, B.C., Canada.

I have always admired old growth trees that are very large and stand out among others in the forest. I decided to hike into the Chilliwack Lake area to admire and photograph the large Western Red-Cedar trees that I remembered from the last time approximately 30 years ago. In order to give some scale to these massive trees I set up my camera’s timer and stood alongside the trunks. In present day society it really is a pleasure to see these standing “Monsters Among Us”. With estimates of their ages at approximately 1000 years it truly is an honour to stand and admire one of the oldest organisms on earth. I wonder what stories they would tell if they could speak.

I hope you enjoy the photos.
