"The Cure For Cancer In Your Backyard?”

I love to photograph mushrooms and other fungi for their beauty and to document particular mushrooms that are of health benefits.  I do not consume any wild mushrooms even if I am nearly 100% confident in my identification. I do not believe that the possibility of misidentification is worth betting my life.

The photo is a fungi that is commonly called Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor). This is an amazing fungi that has large benefits in the medical industry. Turkey Tail is generally found on dead wood and it is quite common in B.C. I have discovered that rotting wood and a moist environment seem to be the main ingredients for the most abundant growth.  This fungi is an immune system booster and cancer-fighting agent. It is believed in some countries to cure cancer however research by Paul Stamets shows that it can remove cancer when it is used in conjunction with other cancer medication and procedures. This fungi is not necessarily pretty but I admire it for the health benefits. Millions of dollars are spent on cancer research and just maybe we can find the “Cure For Cancer In Your Backyard?”
